As part of our ongoing growth and expansion, we are seeking a dynamic and experienced GIS Specialist and Program Analyst to join our growing team.
Review and process bathymetry in superannuated formats through converters and digitization of geographic features in Geographic Information Systems using the context of original survey reports and available ancillary data. Bathy Point Store (BPS) review and processing to include: a) create area objects (i.e. geopackages) of anomalies, per BPS survey; b) determine if the survey is systematic; c) if systematic, research in the metadata if Side Scan Sonar was acquired and, if so, how much of the survey is covered; and d) populate coverage, feature, and uncertainty metadata per survey. Deliverables include GeoTIFFs and Geopackages representing coverage.
The GIS Specialist and Program Analyst selected should have the following:
Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures of hydrography and hydrographic science to support proper encoding of metrics to drive automated systems. Experience working within GIS software such as QGIS. Experience with relational database entry and SQL language. Adept at working both independently and with others to share information and develop best practices. Has good attention to detail and strong organizational skills ensuring appropriate metadata is encoded and work is complete and accurate. Effective in both verbal and written modes of communication
Bachelor of Science and one (1) year of related experience.
