As part of our ongoing growth and expansion, we are seeking a dynamic and experienced Native Hawaiian Program Management Specialist to join our growing team.

Responsibilities

The Contractor shall complete Native Hawaiian cultural projects and related tasks at the Honolulu, HI, site, or at offsite locations as required. Tasks include, but are not limited to:
Provides oversight and management of the PMNM Native Hawaiian Program, coordinates, monitors and evaluates annual Native Hawaiian Program plan goals and deliverables, coordinates and supports leadership, staff, co-managing agencies, and other partner organizations on implementing the strategies and activities related to Native Hawaiian cultural access, research, education, partnerships, and overall integration of Native Hawaiian perspectives into daily management of PMNM, creates and builds partnerships with the Native
Hawaiian community and liaise with the Office of Hawaiian Affairs, coordinates with partner agencies in the implementation of Mai Ka Pō Mai, coordinates and plans trips to the monument, completes administrative tasks required to successfully implement the Native Hawaiian Program, provided field camp and training services that integrate Western Science and traditional Native Hawaiian methodologies, manage the pre-access permit briefings to PMNM permittees and participants prior to his/her access to PMNM, with support from other Co-Managers, supports Section 106 compliance for permits as needed, coordinates and leads
education and outreach events, public meetings, etc.

Qualifications

Minimum experience or background requirements of Contractor personnel:
Masterʻs Degree or equivalent from an accredited four-year college or university with an emphasis in Hawaiian Studies, Hawaiian Language, Botany, Biology, Natural Resource Management, or related field. (Bachelor’s Degree with cultural training from a recognized practitioner who is knowledgeable in a Native Hawaiian practice, discipline, or tradition may substitute for above emphasis). Eight to ten years of experience working with Native Hawaiian communities and natural resource management. Experience in public speaking, oral presentations, and developing visual presentations in a cultural context.


Advanced knowledge in Native Hawaiian history, culture, and traditional resource management. Proficient in the Hawaiian language. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Proficiency with common personal computer office software. In addition, certification and proficiency in scuba diving, with at least three (3) years’ experience as a diver.
