As part of our ongoing growth and expansion, we are seeking a dynamic and experienced Configuration Management Specialist to join our growing team.

Responsibilities

Duties of the Configuration Management Specialist should include the following:

 

  • Work under guidance of the NDBC Configuration Manager and report on task progress
  • Support management of configuration and change control for NDBC-operated stations and deployed equipment, per NDBC instructions and procedures. 
  • Coordinate review, approval and release of all documentation, drawings, bills of materials, revisions, specifications, and other station configuration documentation.
  • Provide Configuration Management (CM) Guidance to support the engineering team and facilitate ECOs and document creation, release and obsoleting
  • Resolve Engineering CM tickets and respond to emails requesting CM support
  • Address Vault, Vault web client, Inventor and AutoCAD issues, as needed
  • Facilitate Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) - to include email coordination, notifications, and status updates
  • Review drawings, models and metadata throughout the CM process to ensure requirements for release are met
  • Ensure that the latest approved documentation is available in the appropriate working areas and in response to requests.
  • Manage/Control Vault access, lifecycles, category assignment, groups, and permissions
  • Coordinate testing and rollout activities with IT for new Autodesk releases
  • Coordinate the review, approval, and execution of variances for deploying other than standard configurations at NDBC operational network stations. 
  • Support system performance monitoring and analysis for NDBC ocean observing network that includes monitoring and forecasting performance of operational and prototype systems, assemblies, equipment and components, and continuing to develop and maintain processes to sustain NDBC’s station and systems at required performance levels. 
  • Track equipment failures and conduct performance analyses on stations, sensors, system LRU’s, and other equipment. 
  • Provide for the early identification of failure trends, make comparisons and analyses to identify conclusions to support recommended changes or reengineering. 
  • Collection of field data on failed items and determination of the root causes by examination of equipment survivability, equipment firmware certification, logistics & pre-deployment testing and inspection, documentation, and workmanship. 

 

Qualifications

Qualifications of the Configuration Management Specialist should include the following:

 

  • 2+ years of experience with Configuration Management administration practices and use of computer-aided database, file management/sharing, and tracking applications
  • Familiarity working with CAD systems (Specific experience using Autodesk Vault and Autodesk Inventor a plus)
  • Familiarity working with PDM or database, Change Management, revision control, parent/dependent file relationships, metadata, distributions, lifecycles, permissions, roles, responsibilities
  • Familiarity with technical data repository systems and failure data tracking methods for use in reliability analysis
  • Familiarity supporting a web ticketing service
  • Familiarity reading and comprehending Engineering documentation, including procedures, data sheets, drawings, and reports
  • Familiarity working with third-party vendors
  • Proficient in MS Office and Google Suite
  • Strong communication and coordination skills across multiple Engineering disciplines
  • AA/AS in Business, Management, Drafting, Technology, or other related field. 4 years of relevant experience can be used as a substitute for the education requirement.
  • Motivated self-starter that seeks constantly to deepen their understanding
  • Strong organizational and reporting skills
