With a commitment to excellence and a passion for innovation, Lynker leverages cutting-edge technologies and scientific expertise to support the creation and delivery of improved operational weather forecasts.  As part of our ongoing growth and expansion, we are seeking a dynamic and experienced Senior Acoustic Analyst and Support Specialist, to support an upcoming long-term contract that we are bidding on (This will be a contingent position, based upon contract award).  Lynker will be operating under FLOAT - A "Fish" and "Lynker" Ocean Alliance Team - a Joint Venture Prime contract holder for NOAA ProTech Fisheries*.

Responsibilities

Duties of the Senior Acoustic Analyst and Support Specialist will include the following:

  1.     Collect and analyze passive acoustic data (archival and real time) to assess the distribution, occurrence, behavior and habitat use of marine mammals, fish species, anthropogenic sound sources and/or soundscapes using a combination of manual and automated acoustic detectors.
  2.     Improve and evaluate the performance of automated acoustic detectors.
  3.     Coordinate and assist with real time acoustic evaluation efforts as needed.
  4.     Evaluate data quality and contribute to the relevant database efforts including the PACM web application.
  5.     Contribute to the integration and analysis of visual, oceanographic and acoustic datasets.
  6.   Synthesize and present results at relevant conferences and other venues. Contribute to the cruise report, permit applications, manuscripts and presentations.
  7. Oversee or contribute to passive acoustic field operations, prepare for and de-stage field projects as needed. Support other Protected Species Division field surveys as needed.
  8. Use and maintain government provided equipment, protocols (such as for data collection, recording, and editing, processing, and archiving), manuals, training, and electronic data entry systems.
  9.   Maintain existing passive acoustic hardware and/or assist in construction of new hardware, including bottom-mounted and mobile devices such as towed hydrophone arrays and drifting recorders.
  10.   Assist with education and outreach activities conducted by the Passive Acoustic Branch as needed
  11. Assist with Project Lead activities including helping to develop project data collection, analytical approaches and write up of scientific manuscripts. In addition to assisting in training and guiding junior contractors (Senior I & II)

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements for the Senior Acoustic Analyst and Support Specialist:

 

- Undergraduate degree in a relevant science subject or equivalent experience.

- Requires a PhD or equivalent experience

- Significant experience with acoustic analysis software platforms, such as Raven, Ishmael, Pamguard, Triton, Pamguide, and other Matlab-based signal analysis software.
