Lynker seeks a highly-motivated, full-time Technical Coordinator to ensure the successful implementation, measurement, monitoring, and verification of climate-smart practices by Hawaiʻi farmers and ranchers. A successful candidate is passionate about climate-smart agriculture and soil science to support us in providing technical assistance to a network of partner organizations and producers statewide.  



  • Data Management and Practice Verification Monitoring (65%)
    • Ensure the implementation of the Hawaiʻi Climate-Smart Commodities Partnership’s (HiCSC) Measurement, Monitoring, Reporting and Verification (MMRV) Plan and develop relevant training materials.
    • Provide quality control and assurance for data entry, site mapping, and sampling plans of producer and practitioner data using the Natural Resource Data Solutions (NRDS) software.
    • Provide quarterly reports that include the producer and site, acreage, status of practice implementation, status of sampling, work to be done within the next quarter, a cost report of the practice implementation, and additional comments.
    • Provide quality control and assurance during the development and finalization of scope of work agreements between producers and the HiCSC producer engagement team (PET) partners that are in compliance with NRCS Conservation Practice Standards (CPS).
    • Assist with the review and submission of environmental compliance documents (NRCS CPA-52) and Farm Service Agency (FSA) eligibility requirements.
    • Assist with the development and verification of compliance protocols for NRCS CPS implementation.
  • Producer Engagement Team Support (35%)
    • Collaborate with partner organizations, researchers, extension professionals, and producers to develop and deliver technical assistance strategies for climate-smart agricultural and forestry practices that aim to increase soil carbon, reduce greenhouse (GHG) emissions, and support agricultural productivity. 
    • Build meaningful relationships through producer interactions and community outreach as part of the HiCSC project.
    • Assist as needed with the collection of soil and greenhouse gas samples at partner sites across agricultural and pastoral lands according to MMRVs and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).  
    • Assist with other HiCSC project needs and duties as assigned.    


Working Conditions:

  • This position requires flexibility, adaptability, and mobility to work in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines as well as occasional evening and weekend work hours.
  • Work is performed in home office, outdoor environments with varying conditions, and community settings.
  • The incumbent is required to use their personal vehicle (mileage reimbursement will be provided) and must be willing to travel to various locations to perform the aforementioned duties.
  • Out-of-area travel, including locations on neighbor islands, is required for professional development, soil and GHG sampling, producer technical assistance, and other purposes.
  • The position could have supervisory responsibilities of expert contractors as well as Lynker based Climate-Smart Specialists.
  • Reports directly to the Program Manager at Lynker.


Equipment Usage:

  • Computer and standard office equipment. Reliable internet access is required.
  • GPS, NRDS database, Microsoft Office, NRCS soil web survey, NRCS Conservation Practice Standards for the Pacific Island Area (CPS-PIA).
  • Soil and GHG measurement equipment (training provided through the University of Hawai'i at Mānoa).



Required Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in agricultural sciences, environmental sciences or related field; or a Bachelor’s degree plus an equivalent of  >5 years of relevant work experience.
  • Experience working in tropical or semi-tropical agricultural systems with a deep understanding of climate-smart agriculture and forestry concepts.
  • Computer skills, communication, writing and presentation skills, experience in using GPS, database software, Google Workspace, and Microsoft Office.
  • Place-based familiarity with cultural norms and values and respectful engagement with Hawaiʻi’s diverse communities is essential.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and experience working with a wide range of individuals in government, private sector and agriculture, especially in Native Hawaiian culture and communities.

  • Applicants must be able to possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and motor vehicle insurance that meets or exceeds State of Hawai‘i requirements for the duration of the project term. 


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Relevant experience working with agricultural producers and practitioners.
  • Capacity to conduct field work, and soil and greenhouse gas (GHG) sampling under a variety of field conditions (including ability to lift ~30 lbs equipment).
  • Familiarity with NRCS Conservation Practice Standards (CPS), particularly for the Pacific Island Area (CPS-PIA), a plus.
