As part of our ongoing growth and expansion, we are seeking a dynamic and experienced Metocean Technicians (Electronic and Machinist) to support the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s (NOAA) National Data Buoy Center (NDBC).

Qualifications

  • Experience performing duties in a sea-going environment in one or more of the following areas: 

    • Fabrication operations (e.g. cutting, shearing, drilling, assembling, fabrication, fastening, and welding) of metallic - aluminum, carbon steel, and stainless steel as well as non-metallic materials. 

    • Preparation for and application of protective coating.

    • Maintenance, repair, test, and modification of marine structural, mechanical, electrical, electronics and mooring systems, including splicing and termination of mooring systems.

    • Demonstrated ability in rigging and deployment of electro-mechanical ocean floats and instrumentation.

    • Operating, maintaining, and calibrating, microprocessor based data acquisition systems, test sets, sensors, laboratory bench equipment and precision calibration of electro-mechanical instruments.

  • Experience with the loading and offloading of equipment, containerized or other, in the field, and with the preparation of shipping manifests for durable and hazardous goods.
